Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona was originally intended to be a short layover, but due to an unexpected flight change, we ended up having about 6 hours. I asked my sister who studied abroad in Spain what is the top thing to do in Barcelona in a few hours and she recommended Sagrada Familia. This is a beautiful church that started construction in the 1880s and work still continues to this day (and is scheduled to complete in the late 2020s). It feels like the Notre Dame of our time, and the interior is even more incredible than the outside. The pillars inside the church were designed to look and feel like trees in a forest, and the light coming in through the stainless windows absolutely makes it feel that way. I'm really glad that I got the chance to see this place.
